I found this book to be most interesting and intriguing, it is so fluid, and filled with dark, sensual imagery. It is beautifully written, and is both captivating and fascinating.

The story sort of goes back and forth between time, so it takes place within two different time periods. The story is primarily set in the 1800's in Europe, but a portion of the book involved the telling of a tale which happens around the time of the French Revolution.

One of the things which I enjoyed about this story is the fact that the author, sort of mixes both old world ideas about witches and witchcraft with some things of his own imagination.

It is a very vivid tale, of a young witch who is called to do a task that others before were not able to achieve, and it is filled with mystical, charismatic, bewitching characters.
