Currently reading: The Grotto's Secret by Paula Wynne
Interest in HF: History got screwed up for me in school, so I dropped the subject as soon as I could. It was only when I was older that I realised it wasn't history that was the issue, it was history teachers... Now I'm just trying to get caught up on what I've missed over the last two millennia.
Favourite HF book: The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco
Preferred HF: Many: classical civilisations (the Graeco-Roman era), the Dark Ages (northern Europe) and of course, post-Renaissance Early Modern Age - the time of discovery.
Location: Prague

Hello All,

Do you ever find yourself clamouring to comment and then bottling up when you get the opportunity? Well, that's me when asked to introduce myself online...

I am Michael Bolan, originally from Ireland, now resident in Czechia by way of a whole load of other places, including a very diverting decade in Moscow. I am a latecomer to historical fiction, driven in large part by the fact that Prague is like a living museum - history really is all around you, which makes it hard to ignore. The stories which underpin the very bones of this city were so gripping that I ended up writing about them in my books, The Devil's Bible Series.

Other than being an author, I run a part-time business consultancy, am a devoted father, a gin-obsessed bore and an armchair rugby fan. I prefer cats to dogs, and books to movies.

As Bugs said, that's all folks!

HI Michael and welcome, don't be shy to post! Prague is a lovely city.

Have fun finding your way round the boards, I think there are quite a few threads and book reviews on the genres you like.
