Artos is my favorite of his nicknames!

Thanks again for all the warm welcomes! I have not had time this past week to be online much, but hopefully I'll be more active now. Family visits are a blessing and a nuisance! *laughs*

:o I know that it has been ages since I've visited her....my design business has really picked up and I've simply had very limited time for fun things beyond work. *hangs head* However, I keep sending all my new clients here - happily recommending this forum as a great place to meet fellow writers!

I've learned a few things this year and can now eagerly recommend a publisher: SilverWood Books in the UK - lovely folks who know their business! I've worked with them on eight book jackets now (seven with Helen Hollick alone!) and their art director is a 20+ year graphic designer, so I actually learned a bit working with them. Pity they have an in house design department and could not hire me on. But they are a top notch outfit for any independent author in need of a good publisher.

I've also created a bunch of book trailers for various clients over the past several months - something new that I've added to my design services. I also highly recommend authors considering this marketing tool - I believe that I can count on E. Chadwick's (member EC2 I think?) support in that as she also creates her own trailers (we use the same software *laughs*), and she's familiar with my work too. I learned through another client that Amazon charges around $1,000 for one book trailer video!! That is ludicrous!! My fee is a quarter of that! This is a new marketing tool for promoting books, so not too many designers out there providing the service - so shop around and don't get ripped off!

I hope everyone here is doing well and I hope to return to the fold more often. I miss reading all of you! :)

Hi cat! We also love cats here, currently we have three, but have had as many as 6 at one time!

You might add Sharon Kay Penman and Eliz Chadwick to your list btw. I am also a big fan of Cornwell, and Kaye (still have Under Heaven unread on my reading table, hoping to get to that one soon!. Welcome!

Hi Ash!

I've read several of both SKP and Elizabeth Chadwick's novels - both are phenomenal writers! Cornwell is amazing isn't he? As is Helen Hollick with her Pendragon's Banner Trilogy.

I sorely miss having cats in the house...hope to again soon if we ever get moved into a new house!

Welcome, Cat! I love to watch book trailers. At first, it seemed they were all just terrible, but now authors/publishers/designers are creating such beautiful pieces. I am particularly fond of Maggie Stiefvater's trailers. Her latest for Scorpio Races is lovely and simple. I could watch her paper cut out trailers for the Shiver series over and over. And she writes the music too I believe. I love that whole side of writing--covers, icons, trailers, music.

Pleasure to meet you Alisha! And thank you for recommending your favorite trailers! I always look for inspiration, so I will Google Maggie!
I tend to prefer Arthur as a Dark Age warlord, not the King of Camelot.
Most definitely!

Welcome from another Carolinian and I hope you enjoy yourself at HFO endlessly! I think Gillian Bradshaw has been way overlooked. She's an excellent writer IMHO. Cecelia Holland is another excellent novelist you may want to discover, if you haven't already done so.

Greetings Leyland! Always a pleasure to meet a fellow Carolinian!

I have read Gillian Bradshaw's Island of Ghosts and thought it was brilliant. Always planned to read more of her novels, just never seem to get through my massive stack of unread books  *laughs* I will definitely check into Cecelia Holland - thanks for the rec!

Welcome Cat. I have one important question - Tar Heel or Blue Devil?
