Perhaps the difference is that people don't ask much of the "pretty" actors.

Watched Georgia Rule over the weekend. Pretty intense, and very good.
Edward Norton did a 1996 Woody Allen film called "Everybody Says I love You" with Drew Barrymore.....He and Drew were magical together and he really surprised me .......He can sing quite well.....Anyway if you haven't had a chance to see it...Worth your time to check it out.....Such a dynamic and talented actor........He has so much more acting range than his contemporary acting colleague Brad Pitt
I never saw Everybody Says I Love You because I am not a huge Woody Allen fan...but based on your comment, I may have to check it out. I love both Drew Barrymore and Edward Norton. I loved him in Primal Fear!

thou hast always been with me,
though we have been always apart." Man of LaMancha

It does not play out like a typical Woody Allen film......Go for it, you will enjoy it.....

Although Brad is easy on the eyes, I've never been that impressed with his acting ability. Edward Norton shines far above Brad.

Last 2 movies:

Slumdog Millionaire - wasn't too sure about this one, but the SLOC really wanted to see it, and we both thoroughly enjoyed it! The young kids were excellent, and we enjoyed the lighter moments as much as the more upsetting ones.
The Changeling - quite different to the way the previews make it out to be.

Body of Lies- very intense, realistic and well worth watching, DiCaprio is such a talented actor and he really gets into his parts, it shows. Russel Crowe' part was typical I thought.

Quarintine- I love scary movies but got burned out since they were geting to be the same by different name but this revived my love for them. Jennifer Carpenter is the Jamie Lee Curtis of the modern Horror film, it started with the Exorism of Emily Rose and now this.

I ended up watching Vera Drake on TV last night. I'm not sure whether I enjoyed it, but it's quite compelling! Imelda Staunton is a very good actress.
