Interest in HF: I love history, but it's boring in school. Historical fiction brings it alive for me.

The last movie I saw at the cinema was Wall-E. I thought it was adorable. And I truly believe that only Disney could make a cockroach as endearing as Hal.

Does anyone else enjoy the Reel History series currently running in The Guardian (British newspaper)? Link here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/series/reelhistory. Entertaining look at the history - if any - behind various Hollywood films.

These Greek llamas should make someone on this site very happy, and it also reminded me of the wonderful credits of "Holy Grail." Speak of historical fiction...

i actually saw brideshead revisited
by myself last weekend. i really enjoyed
it and had no idea it was based on a novel
or that there was a mini-series made in
the 1980's.

my quasi-review is here :

Welcome! *Sigh* You must be too young to remember the miniseries, because you couldn't get away from it at the time. (I liked it, though.)

You have to see the series. It was excellent and had a wonderful cast including Jeremy Irons as Charles.

i am 35 tomorrow. =)
and i just came over from taiwan
and was trying desperately to
learn the language.

did they play the mini-series here in
the states, too?

my hub got a horrified look on his
face when i told him what film i saw.
(he's english.)
haha! apparently, the mini-series was
not such a hit for a 12 year old boy?

susan, i'm a huge elizabeth i fan.
i still can't decide if i find her or
her mother more fascinating. it's a toss up.

Funnily enough my mum borrowed the DVD from the library the other day, she loved it the first time round and subsequent repeats on English TV! She said it was just as good the other day as it was then!

Personally, I got fed up with the hype as I was too young to appreciate it then, might try it again soon!
A good book and a good coffee, what more can anyone want? xx
