Series 2 just finished here, it's quite different to the books now, although they've kept a few of the storylines.

I need to watch this series in order. I've seen a few episodes from season one, and the first two from season two.
Into battle we ride with Gods by our side
We are strong and not afraid to die
We have an urge to kill and our lust for blood has to be fulfilled
WE´LL FIGHT TILL THE END! And send our enemies straight to Hell!

*Bumping up an old thread*
The 3rd season of "Grantchester" wrapped up its US broadcast on Sunday. However, it's not confirmed if there'll be a 4th season:

Did anyone else watch?

James Norton is very hot property now. A lot of that, of course, was built on his role in Happy Valley which was even better in Season 2. Followed, of course, by McMafia which although pretty showy wasn't a patch on Happy Valley. But as the credential for James Norton's replacement in Grantchester appears to be a previous appearance in Downton Abbey, I fear the worst.

he was terrifying in Happy Valley, but I think he was miscast in McMafia. The Grantchester series is very different to the books, although they've kept some of Sidney's "cases", but in the books he marries the German lady.

Not sure I agree about the miscasting. I just thought the whole thing lacked something (possibly because the book isn't actually fiction?) More style over content. Second season of Happy Valley excellent as was he and weeping Myrtle and, of course, Sarah Lancashire? Grantchester was watchable just a bit bland. I have come to the conclusion that if an ITV production is co-funded by Masterpiece Theatre we are not going get anything spectacular. The fact that JN will not be in the next season of Grantchester but will be in season 3 of Happily Valley shows that he knows what he owes his break to. Happily, I hear that after a decade ITV is going to increase its spending on drama, although I reckon the downturn in gritty drama happened when they merged the various ITV channels' drama production into ITV Studios. We are unlikely to get anything like Cracker now but I may very well be wrong. After a really long slump, the best new drama last year came from Channel 4 and, again, Robbie Coltrane (who, as someone once said, has been very choosy with his roles since he joined the Harry Potter pension scheme).
