BBC Wales are to air a new series in the New Year called the Story of Wales. Those of us in the UK with Sky, can view BBC 1 Wales on channel 972 and BBC 2 Wales on channel 991

Quote below is taken from the BBC website:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/waleshistory ... wales.html

"The Story of Wales is packed with heroes and triumphs, grand dreams and great endeavours. From a land of story-tellers, this is the story of the land itself and of the people who've shaped it.

It's the first time in a generation that BBC Cymru Wales has tackled the story of our history - the last major series to do so was The Dragon Has Two Tongues which aired in the mid-1980s. And an awful lot has changed since then.

We can't tell you exactly when The Story of Wales will start in the new year, but we can promise you a compelling tale, packed with dramatic reconstructions and impressive CGI. Keep an eye on the programme site and on BBC One and BBC Two Wales for news."

It's about time this happened.

Ever since the furore over Schama's Anglo-centric A History of Britain, it has been obvious that the Celtic histories needed also to be told. Neil Oliver's History of Scotland, now a few years old, filled part of the gap so this series will complete the triology.

Combined with Andrew Marr's two series on Modern Britian this makes a very nice package from the BBC.

It might also assist some to understand that British does not just mean English and that England is not a synomyn for Britain and that is a reason why we are called the United Kingdom.
