I had recorded these 2 programs a couple of weeks ago and have just watched the first one. It is really interesting! All about the birth of the modern department store, it's place in the Industrial Revolution, it's impact of society and in particular the changes in the opportunities for women in the workplace and in the cult of consumerism. Talks about the first department stores in Paris , Bon march, and selfridges and myer.

I'll try and follow up with the next show soon. Highly recommended. Will look to see if it is available online, if anyone is interested.
