Women and the White House

Post by chuck » Fri February 20th, 2009, 4:37 pm
I like this idea! Go first ladies! Somewhere in my mother's house I have a book about the mothers of the presidents. Really interesting women.
Excellent idea!.....Through these Women lives..... I think we can get to know all the President's so much better.....Who knows... we even might know who the real Polk, Fillmore, Monroe(other than Monroe Doctrine) were etc.....Maybe the authors/Producers could compete with this Tudor phenomena in HF/Films.....

Lovely thought, but the Tudor dynasty is of interest to a lot more people than U.S. Presidents are. Still...I'd definitely go for this. Heck, I may even try writing one of these someday.

Ooh I hope this happens, "Hamlet" is my favourite play and I really like David:
Tennant's Hamlet To Be Made Into Film
David Tennant is planning to give fans another chance to see his short-lived stage performance of Shakespeare's Hamlet - a film version of the acclaimed play is in the making.

Tennant was forced to axe his West End run in the Bard's classic in December after suffering a slipped disc and subsequently undergoing surgery to correct the condition.

He managed to recover in time to return to London's Novello Theatre for one week of shows - but many fans were left disappointed after failing to catch the actor in the title role.

And now Tennant is to show fans what they missed by reprising the part for a special movie.

Hamlet co-star Oliver Ford Davies, who played the role of Polonius, says, "We are intending to film it over two or three weeks in June. It won't be a full feature film as there isn't time but it will certainly be more than just the filming of the stage."

That's a very worrying thought.

I guess it might depend on the president - some were more interesting than others ;)

I can't. Tammy Blanchard was phenomenal as young Judy Garland in Me and My Shadows.

Clearly the person who wrote that article never watched Ella Enchanted. Those of us who are fans of that film have known for years that Anne Hathaway can sing. Rumor has it she was even considered for Christine in Phantom of the Opera.

I liked the young Judy Garland.....never appreciated her as an adult, her films, music and her really messed up lifestyle....never understood the adoration by the music/film industry......she always looked soooo strung out.....I know she had her demons....only my opinion.......

Vanessa Redgrave, Natasha Richardson's mother, has apparently joined the cast of Russell Crowe's "Robin Hood":

And Anthony Hopkin's will supposedly play Ernest Hemingway in a movie directed by Andy Garcia:
