Thought this article about regional words in the US was an interesting read. Enjoy!

Like in the NW, prawns are the large shrimp and the baby shrimp are shrimp. I think on the east they're all shrimp :)

Coffee Nudges (west coast) are Keoke Coffee on the east. More from my bartending days, bourbon and water for us I think in parts south are bourbon and branch. Oh, and Rye Whiskey in a Canadian's mind is something like Seagrams Seven and NOT Old Overholt Rye Whiskey. That was a learning curve from a very surprised customer.

So that's what a hoagie is.

Where I am in Scotland we say:
  • Rubbish bin
Sub if we're in an actual Subway shop, otherwise it's just a sandwich
    Fizzy juice
    Sneakers

Trash can.
Ditto.
Been so long I ordered anything but water and/or carbonated water I haven't a clue ;)
Tennis shoes.

It's been:

Rubbish bin, or just bin
Don't go into Subway so it's usually either sandwich or roll/baguette
Fizzy juice sounds a bit of a contradiction, usually I just call it a fizzy drink, which I rarely have
Trainers, as in training shoes, or plimsolls, haven't called them tennis shoes since I was at school, when we had white plimsolls for tennis, and black plimsolls for everything else!
