Byzantium in Art

Post by princess garnet » Tue December 31st, 2013, 1:40 am

If you're in or will be in the Wash., DC area anytime soon, the National Gallery of Art has an exhibit titled "Heaven and Earth" on display until March 2, 2014. It features the art and culture of Byzantium on loan from Greece.
After DC, the exhibit goes to Los Angeles.

I really enjoyed seeing this exhibit! If you can go during a weekday, there should be less of a crowd.

Princess Garnet, thank you!!! I may go see this if I can get someone to join me; could be illuminating for the WIP (after The Ax and the Vase).

Interest in HF: started in childhood with the classics, which, IMHO are HF even if they were contemporary when written.
Favourite HF book: Prince of Foxes, by Samuel Shellabarger
Preferred HF: Currently prefer 1600 and earlier, but I'll read anything that keeps me turning the page.
Location: California Bay Area

Thanks for the info. I may have to plan a trip to LA in the spring.
