The Mysteries of Glass by Sue Gee.

Post by EC2 » Mon March 16th, 2009, 9:54 pm

I've just finished reading The Mysteries of Glass by Sue Gee and can highly reccommend it. It's not an edge of the seat page turner, but it is very evocative and beautifully written and has it's own kind of intense tension.
Set in England, the Welsh Marches, 1860 and about a young curate who comes to take up his first post in a country village and falls for the vicar's wife.
Will post a review in the relevant forum.

I read this book a few years ago and it's sort of stayed with me, it's quite sad and certainly not for those who like a fast pace! But it works beautifully as a tale of forbidden love and repressed emotion.
