Thanks Wendy. Hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday. It's been pretty quiet so far. The city I live in has taken a zero tolerance stand on the fireworks. I'm hoping that holds and I won't get the midnight kabooms we've had in the past
At home with a good book and the cat...

Happy 4th!!

I wish my town would take a tough stand on fireworks (which are illegal in my state). My dog hates them!

Have a Capitol 4th! :)

Because of last weekend's storm, some towns have had to cancel the fireworks. The annual Capitol 4th concert on PBS is scheduled to go. Those living in the DC area will get to see more of the fireworks on WETA.

My siblings live in DC, and several years ago, we went to the concert and fireworks. The concert was great, but because of the crowds, we had a hard time seeing the fireworks. We decided we'd watch on tv from now on. Still, I'm glad to have had the experience.

Interest in HF: started in childhood with the classics, which, IMHO are HF even if they were contemporary when written.
Favourite HF book: Prince of Foxes, by Samuel Shellabarger
Preferred HF: Currently prefer 1600 and earlier, but I'll read anything that keeps me turning the page.

This is the night we put the dogs in. More critters land in the pound on July 5th than any other day of the year.

Other than that, we're having a BBQ with two of the kids, and going to the firework display put together by the locals to support it with our $$. Our city decided to discontinue the publicly funded fireworks two years ago, preferring to give that portion of the budget to the AmGen bicycle race.

I think those decision-makers are going to get voted out.

Hope everyone had a good 4th. Our was just like any other day, except that we watched 1776. It's a tradition.
