My dad came over to Melbourne to see us and left last Friday, planning to drive from Melbourne to Perth, with lots of stops in outback Australia.
Tonight we got a phone call to say that he was currently in Coober Pedy hospital with a serious bladder infection. Coober Pedy is 9 hours from the nearest major city, and an 18 hour drive from here.
We don't actually know anymore than that at this stage, so we are going to have to see what happens now.
Goodness, it seems to be turning into a trend re fathers at the moment! I so hope he is soon on the road to recovery Diamondlil. Sending all good wishes his way and yours!

Marg sending good thoughts to you and your father, I hope all will be well! As one who has been having bladder problems herself, I can't imagine what an even worse one would feel like!

Thanks everyone. I am hoping that a couple of days in hospital and some antibiotics will be enough to clear it up so that he can finish the drive home himself. I don't really know what will happen if one of us has to get to Coober Pedy.
