Was that Python? Don't ever remember seeing it before...very funny tho' esp. Marx warming up on the touchline.

And Brazil actually had a pretty good player called Socrates back in the seventies...

yes, that was python, forgot to mention.

i always figured that the player socrates inspired the idea behind this skit.

I liked Confucious' hourglass as the timer.

There was a very funny Dave Allen sketch from around the same era, where a bunch of archbishops or popes or something were having a game...can't find it anywhere on Youtube unfortunately. :(
