Spellcheck at its best

Post by Julianne Douglas » Wed June 9th, 2010, 2:50 am

Just read this on the local radio news website:

"if the airport reduces the amount of land set aside for cargo traffic and expand the land for general aviation, including corporate air traffic, it could mean a lot more money for city coughers."

And here I was trying to get rid of this cold...I didn't realize I could make money off of it!

Interest in HF: started in childhood with the classics, which, IMHO are HF even if they were contemporary when written.
Favourite HF book: Prince of Foxes, by Samuel Shellabarger
Preferred HF: Currently prefer 1600 and earlier, but I'll read anything that keeps me turning the page.

LOL! That's a good one. Also gave me my 'happy thought' for the day: Jay's not on the airport commission any more, so I don't have to hear him rant about developers trying to shut down general aviation!

LOL!

The software I use at work refuses to recognize the city in Vermont named "Bennington." It always suggests "opening gun" as an alternative spelling.

You should contact their Chamber of Congress, tell them about your spell check and suggest to them that they might want to change their name to "Opening Gun", it'd be so much easier then fixing the spell checks of the world! ;)

My father was a solicitor (lawyer) and I used to work for him during school holidays. I remember reading some correspondence that had been sent out. One letter said that a hearing was taking place at "Breastfed County Court". Seems the spellcheck didn't recognise "Brentford"...
