Sometimes I have to put him on probation.
I might have to use that idea.

Had to deal with the ex on the weekend. He only rings once every six months, and then apologises for not ringing more. Annoys me every damn time.

Any time I teach, or take, a class, there is always one person who has to have the lime light. They are demanding, needy, always have a comment to everything, have no sense of space. The one today came in an hour late and was upset that I didn't stop everything to review what we just covered. She's full of stories that she just has to tell and has many questions that must be answered after class. Its everything I can do to first bring her back to task in class, and to get her out the door at the end of class. Plus when she's waiting for me near my table, she likes to pick up papers and reads them (till I pull them away). Like others of her type, there is no reasoning with them. When I am in a class with someone like that, if the teacher allows him to take over, I will drop the class (if its not required) or ask the teacher to help. The owner of the store I am teaching in has told me that if necessary, she will ask her to leave. Im really tempted....Fortunately, its only two Sundays a month, for 2 hours. I do have enough patience (and I think control) to handle it. But it irks me, because it interrupts what I am doing, and wastes the students' time.

Went to pick up some soup at a local store that has great takeout soups (chilled spring pea with mint, yummmm) I'm waiting in one line; there's a woman waiting beside me in the salad line. She mutters under her breath when the server walks away without starting to mix her salad, to attend to something else. I turn to her in sympathy, and say, "yes, everything here seems to be taking a long time today, doesn't it." She stares at me, and says: "I'm not talking to you, b*tch. Did I say anything to you? No. So just back off, (insert racist slur here.)
Wow. Life in NYC at its ugliest. I feel sorry for the person on the subway who steps on her toe and apologizes.

I was trying to find some Lady Jane Grey images on Google Books and I was barely there when I started to get this obnoxious message!:

That's awful! There are other ways of indicating that maybe you don't want to talk to someone without resorting to rude and crude behavior.

I love this thread!!

I walked across my apartment complex in humid Florida heat to pick up a book the postman left yesterday, only to learn that the leasing office just started closing on Sundays. Got all sweaty for nuttin'!

Today for some reason I am annoyed more than usual at the plethora of prescription drug commercials and that annoying chick from Progressive. What gives??

Ah but at least you are paying attention to that annoying chick and remember the company's name... which was the point of the exercise, I suspect?

Me? I spent 3 hours on the phone with Sharp and then with parts suppliers. Seems they sold me a portable A/C (the only kind that fits the barred NYC windows) without a stopcock on one of the two drainage sites. Which means that every time I turn it on, the room floods. Choice is between a home office temperature of between 85 to 90 degrees and mopping up floods (no way to attach a hose to the bottom drainage site.) Finally got the right part # (which took 2.5 hours). Alas -- it is out of stock and on back order everywhere, and no one has any idea when it will be available. Sharp has it, but they won't provide it to me because I didn't let them know within 60 days. (Pointed out I bought this gizmo on sale in the fall, when one doesn't typically need an A/C, and didn't discover the problem until earlier this summer, but no joy.)

Ok, I've vented. I will surely begin to feel better shortly about the waste of time, money and physical effort (moving furniture, removing A/C, turning 65 pound gizmo on its head, thus dumping more water on floor....)

I went to go get my Colorado driver's license today. The city of Denver (Denver proper - not the suburbs) only has 2 license branches and the one I went to only had 1 person who was helping people and then 1 person handling payments and pictures - unbelievable! I spent almost 2 hours there and then, I find out that they don't even give you the license while you are there. They mail it to you. Can't wait until I have to register my car...

Our power went out 3 times yesterday!:

1. When I was taking a nap and didn't find out about it until I woke up and it only lasted a little while.

2. Around 5:30, I called and they said, oh we did that on purpose so they could cut a tree down safely, it'll be back up in 10 to 15 minutes. More like and hour and half later! I had to order a pizza because we had nothing we could eat that didn't need electricity too make! And then the pizza had way too much cheese on it, sigh :P

3. Around 10:30, I was reading a book on "Jack the Ripper" and out goes the power again! Mom and Harm went to bed and I tried to read a little more by the light of our Coleman lamps but gave it up after awhile. Power didn't return til sometime after 4:30am.

Needless to say, yesterday with everything else was a BAD DAY!
