Certainly one of those macrohistorical moments, that one.

May 31, 1443 - Birth of Margaret Beaufort, mother of Henry VII, at Bletsoe Castle, Bedfordshire

Margaret was a great granddaughter of John of Gaunt, son of Edward III. She was 13 years old when her only child, the future Henry VII, was born.

Great Picture Annis.
You can see how the 'banded' walls of Caernavon castle were inspired by those of Constantinople, which Edward 1 and his entourage would have seen or heard about.
This picture is part of a huge panoramic painting in Istanbul which marks the Fall of Constantinople.

Click the red ball for the full 360 degree tour - you can drag the sides of the picture to go up or down and also zoom in and out - very cool!

Last year Millvina Dean was forced to sell her "Titanic" souvenirs to cover her nursing home costs- rather sad.

Hi Annis

I have been on the site and it really is great! BUT. I can't get to drag out the sides or up and down - the zoom works though. What am I doing wrong?

Hi Ken - it took me a little while to work out as well, because I couldn't see a side-bar to drag up and down. What you need to do is use your mouse to drag on the picture itself. That way you can move it up and down or backwards and forwards as you wish.
