Seeing we seem to be in a Scottish phase currently
24 July, 1411 was the date of a fierce Scottish inter-clan battle known as the Battle of Harlaw(in Scottish Gaelic Cath Gairbheach). The Highland clans led by Donald of Islay (Dómhnall Íle), Lord of the Isles, were pitted against the lowland clans in a conflict so bloody it became known as Red Harlaw.
The Battle of Harlaw features in Nigel Tranter's novel The Captive Crown, third in the Stewart Trilogy It covers the years 1402–1411 – following directly from Folly of Princes and ending with the Battle of Harlaw.
The Battle of Harlaw is also the name of a traditional song inspired by the event, the version here sung by The Old Blind Dogs (lyrics here)
