Blood and Beauty: The Borgias by Sarah Dunant. Trying the Borgias again. Last year I tried C.W. Gortner's Vatican Princess about Lucrezia Borgia. I enjoyed the beginning in Rome with the papal politics, but once Lucrezia left Rome, something made me lose interest, and I did not finish it. I am hoping that without the focus on one person, this one will be better for me.
I have been reading Blood and Beauty: The Borgias by Sarah Dunant since March 21 according to my post above. (Well, actually not reading it. Doing crossword puzzles on my Kindle has been more interesting.) I have nothing against Dunant. I've read a couple of her novels and liked them. However, I think I've come to the realization that I don't like any members of the Borgia family. There's not one of them I can sympathize with, root for, feel compassion for. They are all just awful. Ditching this book and going to start A Memory of Violets: A Novel of London's Flower Sellers by Hazel Gaynor. There's got to be at least one flower seller who can earn my sympathy.

listening to a bio of Truman by David McCullough. He is so incredibly thorough if it weren't an audiobook, I'd have put it down long since.

The Winter Sea went back to the library for now. I am reading too many other things.
Into battle we ride with Gods by our side
We are strong and not afraid to die
We have an urge to kill and our lust for blood has to be fulfilled
WE´LL FIGHT TILL THE END! And send our enemies straight to Hell!

Interest in HF: Historical fiction was my guilty pleasure when I was in grad school, getting my Master's in History. Back then, I read everything I could about the American Revolution and early republic. Now, as I'm researching my ancestors, I'm obsessed with French history. I've stuck in the Renaissance era.
Favourite HF book: Minette by Melanie Clegg
Preferred HF: How many can I have? WWI, American Revolution, Renaissance, 18th Century,

Cherished Enemy by Patricia Veryan. This author is very hard to walk away from, Love Alters Not (book #4 in The Golden Chronicles) was a huge hit for me. Lots of action, derring-do and evil doers, but this one was soooooooooooooooooooo funny with a little boy and mischief and the heroine's wardrobe errors being stuck with clothes too small for her and her bosom.
