An ARC "Alice and the Assassin". It's okay, not brilliant.

For the King's Favor by Elizabeth Chadwick
Into battle we ride with Gods by our side
We are strong and not afraid to die
We have an urge to kill and our lust for blood has to be fulfilled

Some Veil Did Fall by Kirstie Ferry, dual time-frame set in Whitby in the present and I believe mid 19th century. And just about to finish "The Phantom Tree".

Interest in HF: started in childhood with the classics, which, IMHO are HF even if they were contemporary when written.
Favorite HF book: Prince of Foxes, by Samuel Shellabarger
Preferred HF: Currently prefer 1600 and earlier, but I'll read anything that keeps me turning the page.

I'm reading an oldie recommended by a friend: Flint's Island, the Lost Sequel to Treasure Island. Excellent so far, and the author (the late Leonard Wibberly) has done a good job reprising Stevenson's writing style.
my facebook posts https://www.facebook.com/emilylaurencotton are public, generally things I find amusing.
my passions: fair trade, ending slavery, and justice.

Mine is the Night by Liz C. Higgs
#2 in the "Here Burns My Candle" duet

Set in mid 1740s Scotland, the novel picks immediately starts from events begun in Here Burns My Candle. I was in Edinburgh last summer so this duet appealed to me.
