Interest in HF: started in childhood with the classics, which, IMHO are HF even if they were contemporary when written.

today's deal on Amazon is Bernard Cornwell's The Last Kingdom. It's the first of the Uhtred series. Great battle scenes!

Yes, there are a bunch of Mary Stewarts cheap on Kindle in the UK as well just now.

And Julian Fellowes' Belgravia is 99p today.

Her Merlin series is on my top 10 list. But her contemporaries are my favorite 'brain candy'. They're just right when I don't want to have to do any heavy thinking!
