Interest in HF: started in childhood with the classics, which, IMHO are HF even if they were contemporary when written.
Favourite HF book: Prince of Foxes, by Samuel Shellabarger
Preferred HF: Currently prefer 1600 and earlier, but I'll read anything that keeps me turning the page.

Bookbub had a good haul today: Judith Merkle Riley and Upton Sinclair.
In Pursuit of the Green Lion is delightful, I read it last year. It's #2 in a trilogy, but stands just fine alone. In fact, maybe better than the first one, A Vision of Light.

I haven't read Upton Sinclair's Pulitzer winner, not much of a WWII fan, but today it's $2.99

Today Amazon has Gwen Bristow's Calico Palace on sale for $1.99. Yes! Now I can get an ebook copy--the hardback on my shelf is getting a little worn.

Amazon UK is offering Barbara Erskine's Lady of Hay for free (among a choice of other free Kindle books) if you download the free Kindle app to any device. I'm still making my way through the paperback so just used this deal to get it on my Kindle as well - now I can continue reading it on my commute :D

Edit: the promotion details are on the Amazon UK homepage. I'd post a link but I already used the promotion, and it says I don't have permission to get back to the page since it's one per customer. Also, I already downloaded the app about 3 years ago, but it doesn't seem to remember this :)

Great deal! all three of Mary Renault's Alexander novels are bundled for $3.99 at Amazon today!
Renault is still one of the 'gold standard' master storytellers.
