The Scarlet Wench (Nora Tierney Mysteries, #3) by Marni Graff, the last of my high school classmate's first mystery series.

Since this is my time of year to snuggle up with my cats and a good book, I've been reading a lot. I'm on a non-fiction kick this season, though a few fiction titles crept in. So far:

The Conqueror's Wife by Stephanie Thornton
A Thousand Nights
Guns, Germs, and Steel by Jared Diamond
Horses, the Wheel, and Language by David Anthony (about the Indo-European expansion)

Interest in HF: started in childhood with the classics, which, IMHO are HF even if they were contemporary when written.
Favourite HF book: Prince of Foxes, by Samuel Shellabarger
Preferred HF: Currently prefer 1600 and earlier, but I'll read anything that keeps me turning the page.
Location: California Bay Area

Laura, Guns, Germs and Steel is on my keeper shelf. It perfectly explains why the Maya/Aztec civilizations never got llamas or alpacas from the Mochica -to-Inca civilizations just a few hundred miles south of them.
I have been given two recommendations: Men of the Cross by Charlene Newcomb -- a crusader tale; and Anna Belfrage's A Rip in the Veil, a timeslip.
Decision, decisions.

The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle (40th anniversary ed.)
Kept seeing this in the library so I thought I'd give it a read.

Bitter Greens by Kate Forsyth- a reimaging tale of the Rapunzel story. Bit grim though- err no pun intended there.

Last book to start in 2015 is The Shoemaker's Wife by Adriana Trigiani. Early 20th Century in Italy. So far it's a good one.
