Thought I'd get a jump on this thread (for once)!
I'm also reading Demelza. It's a reread, but Graham always has me hooked. Maybe this go I'll get to the end of the series.

Still reading The Winter Crown by Elizabeth Chadwick.
Into battle we ride with Gods by our side
We are strong and not afraid to die
We have an urge to kill and our lust for blood has to be fulfilled
WE´LL FIGHT TILL THE END! And send our enemies straight to Hell!

Yes they're very compulsive - I'm currently working my way through the series, and have read the first 5 so far. The characters are becoming like old friends, well some of them anyway ;)

Refuge by Kirstie Ferry - dual time-frame, vampires on Lindisfarne, alternating between Victorian times and the present day. Only a short book (139 pages) but very small print!

I'd advise reading it before it's on telly - there are a few shocks coming up :o Demelza is one of my favourite books in the series so far.

Finished Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte - ugh. Hated it & hated the characters! A friend bought it for me & said it was wonderful. How strange. Maybe if I had read it when I was younger I would have liked it? My friend read it ages ago.

Also finished Sue Monk Kidd's The Invention of Wings, a story of two women, a white Southerner & her slave, although that only begins to describe their relationship & where they will go in the story. I was holding my breath to see how it would end. I really enjoyed the author's afterward section which told about how her book was based on real people.

Also like Alan Furst's Spies of Warsaw. Similar to his other books which I liked a lot, but I wish he would pick different names than Spies of ...

Now starting on a Doris Kearns Goodwin non-fiction book No Ordinary Time - Franklin & Eleanor Roosevelt:The Home Front in WWII. So far very interesting.

i agree with you, red, about the characters in Wuthering Heights, I thought Heathcliff and Cathy were awful too and sort of deserved each other, and I fail to see any appeal at all in Heathcliff, although I didn't hate it overall. Have you read Jane Eyre?
