The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons. Or as one cynical person said to me '50 Shades of Grey in World War Two Leningrad.'
Pfft to them I say.

Finished my collection of stories and hymns to Inanna: Queen of Heaven and Earth. Absolutely lovely poetry and informative commentary. Still listening to The Tapestry and reading the first Cadfael book.

I just finished Jennifer Worth's memoirs ("Call the Midwife", "Shadows of the Workhouse", Farewell to the East End" and "In the Midst of Life"). The first three volumes cover her young nursing career as a midwife in 1950-1960s impoverished East End of London. In the fourth volume, "In the Midst of Life" Worth reflects on her experiences caring for the terminally ill. (The PBS series "Call the Midwife" was inspired by and closely follows Worth's stories. If you like the PBS series, I think you will very much enjoy Worth's memoirs.)
Next in the TBR queue is "My Antonia" by Willa Cather. I don't know how many times over the years I have picked up this book, read the publisher's blurb, seemed compelled and yet put it back down. Well now it has migrated to my bedside table. That means a sure read! BTW- "My Antonia is the first in the "The Nebraska" trilogy. So if I like it, I can follow up with "O Pioneers", and "Song of the Lark".

Finished: Jane Austen's Names by Margaret Doody (NF)
How names, events in English history, and places influenced Jane Austen's novels and other writings. It's a thick tome! There are black and white period artwork and maps included. Doody edited a compilation of Jane Austen's early writings, Catharine and Other Writings, which I read and own.
Next: The Providence of Fire by Brian Staveley ("Chronicle of the Unhewn Throne" #2)
