The Golem and the Jinni by Helen Wecker
I'm number 3 on the eLibraryNJ waiting list. They have four copies, so perhaps I will get it within the week. Excited to read it!
I really enjoyed that one. It felt like every day even though the protagonists were creatures of mythology.
It's certainly interesting and different.

Into battle we ride with Gods by our side
We are strong and not afraid to die
We have an urge to kill and our lust for blood has to be fulfilled
WE´LL FIGHT TILL THE END! And send our enemies straight to Hell!

I started the latest Burton and Swinburne novel " The Secret of Abdu El Yezdi " by Mark Hodder. It's an Alternative HF and this time Mr Hodder has turned the events of the previous books upside down.
I first heard of Burton in Philip Jose Farmer's Riverworld series and had to find out more about this interesting man. Biographies seem to fall into Pro and Anti camps, with some casting doubts on his wifes account.
Anyway these are great books about a Victorian Era that never was.
