Ithaka, sitting on the beach, looking at the sky for a good omen, but there are no birds, only a light wind from the north. Perfect for sailing. "I'll miss you" he says. He hauls himself on board the old ship and waves. And I keep to myself the bad omens in my dreams. Be safe Odysseus my love.

Interest in HF: started in childhood with the classics, which, IMHO are HF even if they were contemporary when written.
Favourite HF book: Prince of Foxes, by Samuel Shellabarger
Preferred HF: Currently prefer 1600 and earlier, but I'll read anything that keeps me turning the page.

I'm now in London in the mid-19th century, preparing to go to Cornwall, in one book; and in the other I'm in Kent and WW2 has just started.

I'm in the coastal town of Port St Pierre in France, in the 1970s, being haunted by the ghost of Joan of Arc! I'm quite enjoying the stay in a chateau, though.

Just met a very young Oscar Wilde, Princess Louise and a second meeting with James Whistler and Frank Miles. I'm still waiting for the first meeting with Bertie...
