I Have never read Bernard Cornwell but at the bookstore today, I see that he's written a LOT of books. It seems that he must write 3, 4, or 5 books a year! How can he possibly write so much so quickly, and still produce quality reading material? Again, I've not read any of his books, but I intend to try one at some point. My first will probably be Stonehenge, since it's a subject that really interests me.
No, more like one every other year if that. He's been writing a long time, and his books are popular; thats why you see them in print so much. My husband is a big fan of Sharpe, a time period that never interested me; but his enthusiasm was what got me interested in reading him, and there are several of his books I've liked. Stonehenge is a great place to start esp if you like the subject, as is the Arthur series starting with Winter King. I agree with Eliz, Gallows Theif is very good.
I agree, Tale of Two Cities and War and Peace are HF, but other books by Dickens are period pieces that were written during his own time.
