Finished an ARC of Mr. Rochester by Sarah Shoemaker. I'd picked it up at the library several months ago and read it on and off.

Edward Rochester narrates in the 1st person about his life before Jane Eyre and what he was doing "off stage" during key events in the novel.

Was it any good? There's a lot of back stuff to fill in, that's for sure.

I thought it was all right. It was slow going at first. Jane Eyre appears "on stage" 2/3 of the way in the novel. Also I read Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys years ago.

For a change of pace, listening to Al Franken's Giant of the Senate. Very good so far.

I'm looking forward to reading this. I have it on reserve at eLibraryNJ, but it's going to be a while until I get it.
