I just noticed that Tanzanite is giving away Lynn Cullen's latest book, on Juana 'la Loca' -- Reign of Madness. First I've heard of it, I'll have to go check it out.

If we're going to add Peninsula War novels, how about Georgette Heyer's The Spanish Bride, E.V.Thompson's Cassie and C S Forester's The Gun?

Not Peninsula War, but wondering if we've already listed Kathryn Harrison's A Thousand Orange Trees aka Poison.

Nearly forgot C.J Sansom's Winter in Madrid, set just after The Spanish Civil War.

I really enjoyed Conquistador, by Buddy Levy. Its not really a novel, but it reads like one.

Aztec, by Gary Jennings was pretty good.

And if you're going to include Far East books with Spanish and Portugese influences, then you can't go wrong with Shogun, by James Clavell.

I'm gonna have to check out Captain from Castille. Its been recommended to me several times, and I never pick it up.
Whoever wishes to foresee the future must consult the past; for human events ever resemble those of preceding times. This arises from the fact that they are produced by men who ever have been, and ever shall be, animated by the same passions, and thus they necessarily have the same results.

I'm just about to start The Scent of Lemon Leaves by Clara Sanchez which is set on the Costa Blanca in Spain. It's a contemporary novel but harks back to WWII (I think!).
