Can't believe we didn't have a thread on the Old West! I guess Divia's "Westerns for Women" thread amounts to 50% of a thread, though.
I've just posted a review of Robert B. Parker's Appaloosa that Annis wrote for my website. It's the first in his "Cole and Hitch" series. A shame he is gone now, but at least he left a lot of books behind!

My favorites (so far) are The Searchers by Lemay and The Virginian by Wister. I was surprised how short the Lemay book was, I was expecting something huge to go with that story, but he was able to pack a whole lot into those 200 or so pages. The Virginian is very different from the TV series, some very funny moments along with the action and oh that romance. He's got a very dense style of writing, like Hawthorne and you really have to pay attention or you'll end up back tracking.
