Wow. Old thread. IIRC I did get a copy of this from the library, but the previous borrower was a heavy smoker and I couldn't take it. The book was infested with the smell of it

Given what actually happened, plus a reasonably skillful novelist, this has a chance of being excellent. I really enjoyed Margaret Irwin's novel on the same subject, Elizabeth and the Prince of Spain (see review).
