Philippa dear, Kettle left a message for you.

Thank you Misfit for all the quotes. The Tudor Curse, for me it is the 'Rehash' curse...

I read Jean Plaidy's novel about Margaret Tudor years ago. Thought it was quite good at the time.

Bet the next PG novel is about Margaret Douglas, Frances Brandon or the Grey sisters....

With the Grey sisters she might be able to milk that curse trope well. I have more quotes to share shortly. This really is the most whiny, foot-stomping, vain, stupid, self-centered, me-me-me-me-me heroine ever in the history of 'literature'.

They do not compare me with another woman; my place among them is unique. I am their kinswoman and their queen, as outstanding among them as my grandmother was to her wide family of cousins. All wealth and patronage flow from me, all the power is mine. They don’t compare me to another woman because they cannot; there is simply no one like me.

All my royal furniture and linen is left behind in Linlithgow. It won’t get here for days.

I understand that we could not travel with my wagons with all my treasures, but this is not good enough. I cannot be neglected.

I snap my fingers for a groom to lift me down from the saddle, ignoring the shooting pain that goes from hip to toes, clinging to the footrest of the saddle with my hands so that my knees do not give way beneath me.

This silences me. I am not myself unless I am seated beneath a cloth of estate, in beautiful clothes, dining like a queen. All my life I have been on the top table, beside the throne. What will I become, if I am as poor as Katherine was?

I want, in fact, everything that I had that Albany took from me, but I don’t object to him keeping the title of governor as long as he works alongside me (I mean beneath me) for the good of Scotland, as clearly the parliament intended that he should.
