This is Margaret Pole's story- all about the Melusine curse and how it imploded upon her own family and that of Henry VIII.
Does this sound reductive?

The King's Curse
Funny you should post this. Yesterday I wrote a short article about Margaret Pole for the royalty website I help administer to be published tomorrow (May 27), the anniversary of her execution. Melusine!

The execution/murder of Margaret Pole was one of Henry VIII's most shocking crimes. What threat did an old lady of 67 pose to him? The book's not due out until September, yet I might borrow it from the library just to see if it's any good.
I didn't read any of Philippa Gregory's Plantagenet novels. Heard too many mixed things about them.

Not one of Henry's finest hours - the horribly botched and (you would have thought) unnecessary execution of Margaret de la Pole seems to have been a purely vindictive act, largely fuelled by frustration that Henry's agents failed to assassinate her son, Reginald de la Pole, while he was exiled in Italy. Her young grandson was stuck in a cell by himself after his grandmother's death and basically left to die of neglect. Henry did not take well to being thwarted.
Interesting stuff and even though The Courier's Tale doesn't count as the greatest literature in the world, it does a good job of telling the Pole family's tale.

I'm not sure I want to put myself through it. I did see this rather long, albeit very detailed reviewon Goodreads.

Is that the last in the series? Might get it from the library.
Into battle we ride with Gods by our side
We are strong and not afraid to die
We have an urge to kill and our lust for blood has to be fulfilled
WE´LL FIGHT TILL THE END! And send our enemies straight to Hell!

Can I just raise a theory here? Please feel free to disagree. But is it possible PG was the script editor for the Tudors TV series. Both seem to play fast and loose with the notion of historical accuracy.
I have a feeling PG will continue the series and write about one of Henry VIII's sisters - more water curses coming our way!!

Elizabeth freemantle has reviewed it positively http://www.express.co.uk/entertainment/ ... rse-review
That Goodreads review was very thorough - an entire dissection!

I still think she just write about this water spirit and leave the historical people out of it.
