The MC in my manuscript is 17 as well.
Mid 20s however is a bit much for a 17 year old. Yikes.

I'd definitely think a 25 year old dating a high schooler these days was icky (even if the age of consent is 16 in many places), but this book was set in the 15th century, so a 17 year old was basically an adult, no? I'd say mid 20s is pretty good compared to the ages of some of the men girls of that age had to marry.
