Perhaps this was already posted, but I just saw the coverfor Philippa Gregory's The White Queen and was rather surprised. Thoughts?

Surprised in a good or bad way?
Personally I don't really like it, but I didn't really like the last UK one either.
BTW, I am going to move this into the PG section of the forum.

We had a bit of a babble about this cover on the Forthcoming Books thread at one stage- I don't think anyone was that iMpressed with it!

I was interested to learn from Boswellbaxter that there's no historical evidence for the often repeated description in novels of Elizabeth Woodville as having silver-blond hair-- in portraits etc her hair is shown as golden or even brownish.

DL's right, let's be mean together
It looks like there's been small changes made to the background, a small improvement. Pic on the left is from B&N, the one on the right Amazon UK. We babbled about it over at a couple of groups at Goodreads - the reaction is pretty much the same as here. Although one poster did mention that the hat looked like an inverted flower pot

She doesn't strike me as a woman so beautiful she had Edward IV wrapped around her little fingers.

Exactly! And the net of roses above her head is incredibly annoying. Couldn't they have been used as frame of some sort, instead of covering half of her face (even if she isn't much to look at)?She doesn't strike me as a woman so beautiful she had Edward IV wrapped around her little fingers.
If I was Philipa Gregory, I'd be pitching a fit! Which means she must like it, because I can't imagine they'd go with a cover she didn't like.
