11) Secrets of a Charmed Life by Susan Meissner; finished 3/18/15; I read this rather quickly as the story really drew me in, but I guess it helped that I've been home for two days with an upper respiratory infection. This is the first novel I've read by Susan Meissner and I will definitely read more. It's a present/past novel, but it focuses much more in the past, during the awful time of the London Blitz in World War II. As I began this novel, I had just done a lesson with my 7th grade language arts classes about showing, not just telling in their narrative writing. Susan Meissner is very talented at showing. Her descriptions of the Blitz, London during the war, a country village transport the reader to the settings.

12) Mademoiselle Chanel by C.W. Gortner; finished 4/2/15; I really didn't know anything about Coco Chanel's life, so I appreciated reading her story. I can't put my finger on it, but something was missing for me. Also the ending was a bit abrupt for me, but all in all, not a bad read at all.

13) The Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan; finished 4/6/15, appears to be the last of Riordan's YA Greek/Roman series, things are somewhat tied up at the end, Riordan has a Norse novel coming out later this year.

14) The Figaro Murders by Laura Lebow; finished 4/10/15; Mozart (well, his librettist, but Mozart does make some appearances), Vienna, and mystery is a good combination for me and the book worked for me. Mozart wrote three Italian operas with Lorenzo Da Ponte (The Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni, and Così fan tutte) and it appears Laura Lebow is going to do a mystery trilogy with Signor Da Ponte as the detective.

15) The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins, finished 5/3/15; In the same realm as Gone Girl, which I liked better. None of the characters are really likeable, but I did feel some compassion for the protagonist. About 75% through, I was pretty sure what happened, and I was right.
