Daughters of England Series/Love Interests

Post by SCW » Sun August 9th, 2015, 9:54 am

I used to love the Daughters of England Series by Philippa Carr.

But there always something that bothered me about these books.

This is how unlikable the male romantic interests are.

If you like men who are
liars
cheaters
rapists
thieves
emotional cripples
blackmailers
murderers

Was Jake the suitor from return of the Gypsy?
From memory- he is around the time of Eversleigh.

I stopped reading them after a while, but it seemed like the first five or six books had scenarios where the heroines were getting involved with some dubious types.

Yes, he was the love interest in The Return of the Gypsy.

By the time the series reached WW2 (and when Hibbert died), the love interests had become rather benign.
