Re: What are you reading October 2018?

Gone with the Wind is my all time favourite book. I wish Audible did an audio edition - I'm surprised there isn't one! I don't generally re-read books but I do like to listen to favourites - it doesn't matter if my attention wanders! I've just started The Silent Companions by Laura Purcell , a Goth...

Re: What are you reading October 2018?

Finished Gone With The Wind at last. I'm trying to finish reading the logo books up at the top of this website! Only one more to go on this view, although I know there are 4 others that rotate in. Hadn't read GWTW since high school. Either I had forgotten a lot, or I wasn't attuned to it then, but ...

What are you reading October 2018?

I'm doing 'finish up books on the Kindle' month. America's First Daughter and the Alice Network.
Little time to read as we race the rainy season to get our building project done.

I have enjoyed several of Kearsley's novels, although i can think of one that was a dud. Was considering ordering this. What didn't you like about it?

What are you reading September 2018?

Coming into fall already! I confess to a Bookbub splurge on Pearl S. Buck. I am now reading Imperial Woman, about the last Empress of China.

Re: What are you reading August 2018

I'm reading 'The Gathering' which is the first of the Adelsverein trilogy. IIRC r, Celia Hayes, once participated on this forum. Anyway, I recently was reminded of the books when someone said in a post that they were her favorite novels, so I downloaded a sample, and viola! I'm hooked.

Re: Pet Hate in hf

My pet hate is the issue of sex. Modern authors very frequently have people copulating with no thought of the biological consequences. Sex = babies. Back then, EVERYBODY knew this, although apparently it doesn't show up on many a modern writer's brainscan. When there often isn't enough to eat for 6-...

Re: What are you reading July 2018?

Hello everyone, still not reading much HF so haven't been around. I am reading The Witch of Willow Hall by Hester Fox. Not feeling the love I'm seeing in the other reviews. First person present tense never helps my reading experience. I normally loathe first person present. I liked it in the Hunger...
