[quote=""Misfit""]Thanks for finding all of this Susan, that helps a lot. So *my* earl could have been tried and hanged, but he would have to be tried by his peers, and not in court like a commonor if I have it correctly. And if convicted, he could wiggle out claiming his privilege as a peer since i...

You are quite right that Peers would be beheaded and not hanged. In the 1830s this would have still been the case, however in actually, there had not been an aristocrat beheaded since the 1700s, but there also had not been one convicted of a capital crime either. One away around this would be to hav...

Several up-and-coming authors I have met recently have short stories in among their published credits. When I made the d...

Update

The series has gone from a 5-book series to a trilogy. The final book should see the light of day in 2015. I would love if it could get released before the HNS conference in late June of that year.

I think I went about my career backwards. I always wanted to write fiction but didn't think I could. I was always such a facts-based person. After I wrote a few non-fiction books, I kept being told, I was a good storyteller and should try my hand at a novel. I found a publisher who agreed with that....

I have to join the chorus. The only way a writer is going to learn about an area where imprivement is needed, is if someone tells him/her. However, there are more tactful ways to go about it. During that conversation, start off by telling her the part of the book you liked. You could go with somethi...
