The Red Queen....Here I come!
I just this minute received The Red Queen by Philippa Gregory. I will open it up when I've fed my husband. (He's a logger and on early shift because of the dry woods conditions.) Then I will re-read parts of Alison Weir's The Wars of the Roses which is my favourite book of this period. :D Oh, the joy!

Has this Cleopatra book been mentioned?
Cleopatra: A Life by Stacy Schiff. It comes out in November. I know it should be in 2010 thread, but since some previous posts were discussing another Cleopatra book, I thought I'd mention this one. The book will be adapted for a screenplay starring Angelina Jolie.

Oops, forgot to even put Ms Chadwick's name in post!
Thank you for moving my post to the proper spot! By the way, I can't wait to read your future tome on Margaret of Anjou! I've read all of your previous novels; they opened my grey cells to more intensive research! You are one of my favourite writers!!

Elizabeth Chadwick?
This author has a new book out To Defy a King , and when I checked the history, I found that many of the characters were real people. I like the historical fiction that is based on fact. I want to know what various members think of her writing, if they don't mind. Philippa Gregory's The Red Queen is...

A newby here!
I have just finished an amazing book: Invisible Bridge by Julie Orringer. It takes place during the 30's and 40's and follows the lives of 3 Hungarian Jewish brothers. Very evocative writing. Reminds me of my all time favourite epic Anya written by Susan Fromberg Schaeffer. I am counting the days un...
