Plus, yes, we know Claire ad Jaime have a lively sex life; we don't need to witness it every. damn. time they do it.
Couldn't agree more - another off-putting aspect of this series!!!

The Falcons of Fire and Ice by Karen Maitland - struggled with this (lack of atmosphere and style of writing) until about 60% through when it improved and the plot seemed to find a direction to take. Wouldn't recommend.
I read The Falcons of Fire earlier this year and this was my Goodreads mini-review: The exposition was too long for me, but there were a few Maitland surprises sprinkled in the latter part of the novel. I think this is my least favorite Maitland novel, but I enjoyed the Iceland par...

I'm struggling with The Falcons of Fire and Ice - really wanted to like it too seeing as I was so disappointed with Karen Maitland's previous book!!! This just seems to lack the atmosphere of Company of Liars and The Owl Killers . I kind of feel it's a bit contrived if that's the right word - we're ...

Currently reading The Falcons of Fire and Ice by Karen Maitland. Really hoping this is better than her last (The Gallows Curse) which I found a huge disappointment compared to The Owl Killers and A Company of Liars.

And the Mountains Echoed - Khaled Hosseini. Another beautifully written book, but not quite on par with his previous two in my opinion.

The Last Runaway - Tracy Chevalier. Although her stories tend not to move fast, I always like them - and this was no different.

Just while Jamie Fraser is in my mind - Scottish men (or people in general) usually have hair of a "red" hue :)
