Re: Quotes you love

When I first saw this thread, I thought how interesting and fun it will be. I'm sorry it has received modest participation- especially from myself. I have read so many things that have given me pause, delighted my fancy, tickled my funny bone and I've wanted to share! If only I could remember them l...

Re: Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell

I very much liked the novel. And even more so the mini-series. I thought it was well adapted and added explanations and texture that were absent in the book. Will be interesting to see what you think!

Re: The Most Annoying thing today

Workmen are here in my home today replacing carpet. Prior to starting actual work, I walked with them through the carpet area, and reviewed the plan. They seemed surprised at a couple of the details. Hmmm. The details were clearly noted on the invoice. They did not have a work order that I could rev...

Re: Amazon goes Etsy?

I'd like to read Amazon's mission statement and annual goals. "We will be everything to everybody at every second".

Thank you for sharing such a personal bit. I am so glad for you that you have these memories/stories of your mom's life. Knowing the experiences of those who came before us adds a quality and connectedness within lives, me thinks.
Happy centennial to Emily's mom! Best wishes to you both~

Re: Somewhere in France: A Novel of the Great War by Jennifer Robson

I have this languishing on my Kindle somewhere. You might want to look at Over There by Thomas Fleming. Not wholly focused on the female role, but you will get a good look at it if my memory hasn't failed. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0061090344/ref=x_gr_w_bb?ie=UTF8&tag=x_gr_w_bb-20&linkCode=a...
