http://www.gutenberg.org, but I like manybooks better. Manybooks has a brief description of most stuff & reader reviews. I spent a long time there downloading stuff from the "Pulps" genre. You can't buy this stuff anywhere!

I Had the Same Question

When I bought my new Kindle. My answer was easy. When I checked the availablity of 3G in my area, I discovered that I couldn't receive it. You might make this check, too, & see if it answers your question. Having said that, I have no problem using either my home computer & a USB cable or downloading...

Word to Kindle or Nook Formatting
