I saw Kick-Ass! It's not historical, but it is hysterical. My review (from the fight choreographer/writer's perspective) on my blog.

I didn't know whether to put this in "funny" or "best thing today". Someone found my website about my historical novel Saint Mark's Body , looked at the character descriptions there, and used that "information" to edit the Italian Wikipedia article about the real person "Buono da Malamocco" on whom ...

Had to play a verse I hadn't seen before, written in treble clef which I don't read... was able to sight-transpose it into bass-Bb (which I can't normally do), and nailed it! Talking to the priest about it afterwards-- she thought it ver...

I've done a lot of reading on so-called "evolutionary fitness" - the idea that the genes are still optimized for survival in the Stone Age. That means a high-protein, very low-carb diet with short burst / high intensity exercise. So, ten thousand years ago everyone either looks like a "gym rat" or i...

Clarification: do you mean, have a historical figure I don't like be the protagonist of a novel? Of course we all have characters we don't like, and don't want the reader to like. I think it would be an interesting exercise. Shakespeare certainly did this in his historical fiction, notably Richard I...
