A friend of mine is planning a book on the indentured Scots and Irish. I've been trying to steer him in the direction of the Scots POW during the English Civil War sold into slavery to America. Bought from the prison camps for £3, transported for £2 then sold for £32. A lucrative way of dealing with...

Have started The Empty Throne but I think the tale has went on for far too long
ditto for Turney's Marius Mules.

Books 8 and 7 in their series have just came out and my interest has waned
which is a shame as I liked Turney's policy on ebook prices.

Mark I know what you mean about fighting styles in mass combat. The Leeds Armoury has a Helmet that has sound and vision blasting at you. How anyone could fight with the restricted view and sensory overload is beyond me. Only thing I could think of was maybe they fought at a slower pace but that can...

I'm reading Purity of Blood by Arturo Perez-Revrte. Book 2 of 7 set in the Golden Age of Spain, a period and place I'm not familiar with , The tales follow Captain Alatriste a sword for hire. Translated from Spanish 2000's I'm finding these a nice change, one thing shines through Spain was a dangero...

I started the latest Burton and Swinburne novel " The Secret of Abdu El Yezdi " by Mark Hodder. It's an Alternative HF and this time Mr Hodder has turned the events of the previous books upside down. I first heard of Burton in Philip Jose Farmer's Riverworld series and had to find out more about thi...

Started S J A Turney's Hades Gate yesterday. Book 5 in the Marius's Mules series and a great read it is too. Seems like a good guy as well, keeps his Ebook prices low as he thinks books are getting overpriced. Has a point saw one yesterday that was cheaper in Hardback on Amazon than for Kindle by al...

Started The Arthuriad by Francis Hagan. It was reduced for Kindle on Amazon. Not bad at all , a fantasy set in Britain as imagined by Robert E Howard for his Bran Mak Morn series later added to by Karl E Wagner. So no knights in shining armour or round tables but a mishmash of Celts, Huns, Saxons an...

Got agree. An author should be able to tell the story in 3 books tops.
The stotyline always falters and there's way too many characters to keep on top of.

Still thats me finished with Cornwell for a year at least.

Was given a loan of an old Kindle no light, keyboard or speakers or pictures for that matter. We were working in Aberdeen and sleeping in the car so leaving the light on was a no no. With my tablet I could do white text on black not an option on the old Kindle. Use the tablet you say! damn cigarette...
