The Paris Trend
Has anyone else noticed how historical fiction set in Paris during WWII is trending right now? Just based on the titles alone, these are all recent/upcoming titles: While Paris Slept The Paris Dressmaker The Paris Library The Paris Secret The Paris Model Paris Never Leaves You The Paris Hours Three ...

Re: Jamestown
Why am I still watching this?! It's so bad sometimes, but I guess it's because I don't really have any other "summer" shows. Verity goes from meeting a young boy for the first time in the beginning of the episode to loving him like a son by the end of the episode. Their "bond" is rushed and superfic...

Re: Does this sound like a good story?
It certainly sounds a good story, and you've got background to go on, however I can't advise on the writing aspect! Good luck if you decide to give it a go, it's a period of history that doesn't seem to be featured very often (especially in the UK, the US market may of course be different). Thanks,...

Does this sound like a good story?
I have no formal education on writing, but particularly when I'm doing my genealogy research I come across true stories that seem so perfect for dramatization, I get the urge to write about it. Trouble is, I've always been more of a visual person - I feel like I can create great scenes in my head, b...

Not the same covers, but I feel like I keep seeing this general kind of theme: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51A0gwQXXrL.jpg https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51Y2JPOiCOL.jpg https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51r59VA5XiL.jpg https://images-na.ssl-imag...

Re: The Spanish Princess
They do realize they can do historical dramas that aren't based on Philippa Gregory's novels? It could just be based on... you know... history.

Re: Pet Hate in hf
Here's one that annoys me about titles: the amount of historical novels that are titled "The such-and-such's daughter/wife". Okay, I know that in history, women are generally degraded to being defined by their nearest male relation, usually father or husband. But do we really need to perpetuate that...

Yes, I just saw it at the book store too, coincidentally.Margaret wrote:Whew! Thank you, Mythica. Isn't it a beautiful cover?

Re: Covers! commentary and samples
Just copy and paste the image URL. If it's from Amazon, you should be able to right click the image and depending on the browser you're using, select the equivalent of "copy image address" then paste it into the img tags here, or "open image in new tab" and then copy and paste the URL from the addr...

Re: Covers! commentary and samples
I like the cover of Barbara Kingsolver's latest novel, Unsheltered. It's elegant and appropriate to the historical material - a period drawing of a carnivorous plant. Can anyone help me figure out how to include an image in a post? I see where the "image" icon is, but don't know how to grab the ima...
