Re: what are you reading April 2017?

I have a very shameful confession to make. You see, I have never ever read The Notebook. Nor any other books by that author. Nor have I seen the film with Ryan Gosling (even more terrible because I've been told the film is the better version) But, I have just finished Letters to the Lost (WW2 Fictio...

Re: December 2016, what are you reading?

Just finished The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton. Set in modern day London but goes back and forth to the Blitz. All of her books have some deep buried family secret, different time periods and a big twist at the end. This is the fourth one I've read. (But snark aside, I rather liked this one) Am now ...

In Harm's Way by Doug Stanton, a non-fiction account about the sinking of the USS Indianapolis. The ship which carried the atom bomb and was subsequently sunk by the Japanese after it delivered it's cargo Apparently a movie is being released over this ships plight. Although it will be hard to top Qu...

Re: World War One Novels. Any Recommendations?

It was very well acted, especially the guy who played Joe Middleton.

I had no idea servants faced the wall when the Squire came down...More realistic showing of the relationship between master and servant than Downton Abbey.

Though I did love Downton as well.

Re: Guess who PG is writing about next

Fallen Skies gets some hate on goodreads (as does Wideacre)
But PG's novel of post WW1 is one of my favourites of hers.

What about Catherine De Valois who married Owen Tudor?

Has anyone ever read Here Be Dragons by Sharon Penman. One of the main characters portrayed is an ancestor of Henry Tudor?

World War One Novels. Any Recommendations?

Hello

For a long time I have always preferred reading about WW2 to WW1. However I recently watched an excellent (albeit depressing) series called The Village. It was set during the first world war and I would just like to know if anyone can recommend any novels during this time?

Much appreciated.
