Re: new theory on Dark Age Britain

I agree with Anne. There was a programme with Alice Roberts on a little while ago in which she sought to again say there was no archaeological evidence for any battles between British and Saxon armies. But armies in those days were not large - under a thousand by a long chalk, and a battle like that...

Re: Historical Arthur

Hi, I just read factual books about King Arthur nowadays as I'm writing one of my own and I worry about inadvertently picking up snippets from other people's writing. But as a girl I read Rosemary Sutcliff's Sword at Sunset - I seem to remember he was a lantern jawed part Saxon? I can't remember why...

Re: Seton fan?

I used to love Anya Seton books when I was younger but haven't read any for a long time.
Good luck with this.

How do I upload a photo?

I'd like to post a picture or two of my dog but when I click on the mountain icon that usually takes you to your files to upload, it just dumps a line saying image image on my page. I'm not sure what to do so thought I'd post to ask.

Testament by Alis Hawkins

I've just been sent a copy of Testament by Alis Hawkins to read in return for a review on amazon. I've started it, but it seems a bit slow at the beginning so I've stalled, but it's got some good reviews already on amazon so I'm going to keep on with it. Anyone else read it?

Re: Ramses-The Son of Light

I read a brilliant book a long time ago (got it from the library) by a woman called Joan Grant. It's about Rameses but in a round about way, and is called 'So Moses was Born'. I wish I could find it again as I loved it, and it answered all sorts of questions about how Moses came to be in an unusual ...

Re: The Cathars

I love horses. So I know what a dun horse looks like. In case you don't it's a kind of yellowy light brown in colour generally with a black mane and tail and possibly with a dark dorsal stripe down its back. My french friend Izzie told me (I used to live in France) that this colour is called Isabel ...

Re: Arthurian Literature

I tend to stick to books about whether Arthurian legend and myth could be true or not - scholars who delve into the stories and try to find the history behind them. I find that quite fascinating, probably because I'm Aspergers and this is my obsession. That and horses. Of course, in historical ficti...

Re: Hello from Devon, England

Hello, glad to meet someone else from England. I've just joined and am interested in the fact that you say you publish other writers. I'm looking to publish my own books in early 2020, and would be interested in hearing from you. I like many of the same historical periods as you, and some of my favo...

Hello from a boat in England

Hello, I'm new here but not to historical fiction. I write it myself and at present am working on a series set in the Dark Ages for which I'm researching a publication method. I post it on Critique Circle for peer group reviews which has really helped polish it. I live on a canal boat in England wit...
